A Note to the Awake
The Quiet Power of Leaving Bread Crumbs: A Note to the Awake
There is a quiet power available to those of us who are awake, aware, and listening to the guidance of our inner stars. It’s not the loud, demanding power of authority. It’s the subtle, steady influence of someone who chooses to be a light in the world—one small breadcrumb at a time.
If you are reading this, you likely feel that pull. You know you hold the capacity to help humanity, not through grand, sweeping reforms, but through the intentional acts of kindness and energy you radiate wherever you go.
Why We Run From Life
Let’s be honest for a moment: most of us spend a significant portion of our lives avoiding life itself.
Past trauma, anxiety, and stress drive us toward escape. We scroll endlessly, overwork, numb ourselves with substances, or get lost in distractions. None of this makes us broken; it makes us human. But when enough of us are running from ourselves, the collective consciousness suffers. We become disconnected, lonely, and lost.
The Practice of Leaving Messages
This is where you come in. If you are awake and aware, you have a gift to offer: the ability to leave little breadcrumbs of assistance for your fellow travelers.
These breadcrumbs don’t have to be physical notes or grand declarations. They can be energetic imprints left on the world around you.
And here’s the beautiful part: you don’t even need to touch anything.
Simply look at something and send it your intention. That’s all it takes.
Try this: When you are out in public, gaze upon the spaces around you with purpose.
- Look at a door handle and intend the feeling of being loved and honored into it.
- Gaze at a park bench and send thoughts of peace to anyone who will sit there next.
- Look at a brick wall and infuse it with the sense that it’s ok to enjoy life, to love, to breathe.
- In a grocery store, glance at a shelf with the intention that whoever finds what they need will feel supported.
It sounds simple. That’s the point.
A Story from My Window
I live in a series of flats in the Netherlands. As you might imagine, it’s a densely populated country where we necessarily live on top of each other. For a while, just below my bedroom window, people would gather regularly to talk on their phones, smoke cigarettes, and linger late into the night.
The noise and activity began affecting my rest. I could have complained. I could have confronted them. Instead, I tried something different. I infused the energy of “don’t linger” into that space—simply by intending it, without saying a word or making a gesture.
The result? The gatherings stopped.
Whether this was coincidence, psychological, or something more subtle doesn’t matter as much as the fact that it worked for me. And if it worked once, it can work again.
Your Invitation
We often think change requires massive effort. But the world shifts through accumulated small acts. Every time you choose to send love instead of judgment, or infuse a space with peace instead of tension, you contribute to a collective field of awareness that others can tap into, consciously or not.
You don’t need special training. You only need:
- Awareness – Notice where you are and what energy you’re bringing.
- Intention – Choose what you want to send out into the world.
- Consistency – Keep doing it, even when you don’t see immediate results.
The breadcrumbs you leave today may guide someone tomorrow. Or next year. Or decades from now.
I’d love to hear from you: Have you ever felt a shift in a space simply by changing your intention? Or do you have a “breadcrumb” practice of your own? Share your stories in the comments below.
